CHECKLIST

The audiobook QA checklist

Everything worth checking before an audiobook ships, grouped the way the work is actually done. Print it, or let the first two sections run automatically.

TEXT ACCURACY

  • Every word matches the final manuscript, not the draft the narrator was sent
  • No skipped words, sentences, or paragraphs at edit points
  • No extra words or duplicated phrases from stitched-in re-takes
  • Tense and small-word slips caught ("was"/"is", "a"/"the", "in"/"and")
  • Numbers, dates and money read correctly (formatting differences are fine)

PRONUNCIATION

  • Proper nouns consistent across the whole book, not just correct once
  • A pronunciation list agreed with the publisher for rulings
  • Foreign words and technical terms flagged for a decision, not guessed

AUDIO QUALITY

  • No mouth clicks or lip noise at pauses
  • Sibilance under control, with no harsh esses jumping out of the mix
  • No breaths chopped in half at edit points
  • Room tone consistent within and across tracks
  • No dead air beyond natural paragraph pauses
  • No clipping or level jumps between sessions

STRUCTURE & DELIVERY

  • Opening and closing credits read exactly to the tag script
  • Track numbering matches the delivery spec
  • Chapter headings read as the publisher expects (numbers, titles, or both)
  • File format, sample rate and loudness to the distributor spec

The shortcut

The first two sections, every-word accuracy and consistency, are the slow ones, because they mean hearing the entire book against the manuscript. That is the part BookMyProof automates: upload the tracks and the book, get back a timestamped list of every mismatch and noise event in minutes, listen to each one in a click, and export the publisher’s sheet.

Proof your next audiobook in minutes.
