Terms of service
These terms cover your use of BookMyProof. They are written to be read, not to be survived. Last updated August 2026.
1. What the service does
BookMyProof compares an audiobook recording against the manuscript it was read from and returns a list of differences with timestamps. It is a tool that does the first pass of a proofing job. It is not a person, and it is not a guarantee.
2. What it does not do
BookMyProof will not catch every error, and you should not rely on it as your only check. Speech recognition is imperfect, manuscripts arrive in imperfect formats, and judgment calls about pronunciation and delivery remain human work. The findings are candidates for a person to confirm or dismiss. You remain responsible for the quality of anything you deliver to your own client.
3. Your account
You need an account to use the service. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it. One account is for one person or organisation; do not share logins across a team, because the access record then stops meaning anything.
4. Your material stays yours
Manuscripts, recordings and reports you upload or generate remain yours entirely. We claim no rights over them. We process them only to provide the service to you. We do not use your material to train models, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except the processors listed in our privacy policy, which exist purely to make the service work.
You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. Most work that passes through here is unpublished and under embargo, and we treat it that way by default.
5. Acceptable use
Do not upload material you have no right to, do not try to break or overload the service, and do not resell access to it as though it were your own product. If you want to offer BookMyProof to your clients under your own arrangement, talk to us; that is a conversation, not a violation.
6. Plans, payment and cancellation
Every account starts with one free hour of audio. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, and hour packs are charged once. Usage is metered in finished hours of audio processed; a book counts as ten.
You can cancel any time from your account, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part-used months as a matter of course, but if the service failed you or you were charged in error, write to us and we will sort it out. We would rather refund you than argue.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the service running and your work safe, and we take nightly encrypted backups. We do not promise uninterrupted service. If something breaks badly we will tell you rather than let you discover it in front of your client.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including production delays or the cost of re-recording. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, because it cannot.
9. Ending things
You can delete your books, your audio, or your whole account at any time. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why. If we ever shut the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your work.
10. Changes and law
If we change these terms materially we will let account holders know by email before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
